Secretary's Office:
The Office of the Secretary provides statewide administration, policy development and leadership on public health issues. Mary C. Selecky is the Secretary of Health, and leads the agency which includes the divisions of Community and Family Health; Environmental Health; Epidemiology, Health Statistics and Public Health Laboratory; Health Systems Quality Assurance; and Administrative Services.

Deputy Secretary's Office:
Bill White, Deputy Secretary, provides guidance for developing public health policy and implementation of the state’s Public Health Improvement Plan.

Office of State Health Officer:
Dr. Maxine Hayes, is the state's Health Officer and chief spokesperson on medical issues.

Office of Communications:
The Office of Communications provides Washington citizens with the information they need to make good health choices. The office works closely with the media, and uses a full range of print, internet and other communication tools to get health messages to the public. The office also facilitates clear communication between Department of Health employees, and between the agency and its many partners.

Policy, Legislative & Constituent Relations Office:
Legislative and Constituent Relations analyzes and develops legislative proposals. The office also serves as liaison to local, state and federal agencies, elected officials, and constituents to ensure that Department of Health positions and policies are accurately communicated.

Performance and Accountability:
T
he Office of Performance and Accountability provides performance and accountability, staff training and development strategy; leadership, coaching and support for the Governor’s Management Accountability and Performance (GMAP); quality improvement and alignment work; and staff coordination for performance audits.

Public Health Emergency Preparedness & Response Program:
The Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response program prepares public health and health care systems to effectively respond to incidents of bioterrorism, outbreaks of infectious disease and other health emergencies.

Public Health Systems Planning & Development:
The Office of Public Health Systems Planning & Development (PHSPD) is responsible for long range planning to improve the public health system, partly through completion of the Public Health Improvement Plan.  The Public Health Improvement Plan is a significant strategic plan created through a partnership of public health agencies including the Department of Health, local health officials, the University of Washington and other groups. The PHSPD office maintains an active liaison function with local government, including 35 local health jurisdictions, and administers $16 million in Local Capacity Development Funds.  In addition, PHSPD responds to public health training workforce development needs at the state and local level, and administers a learning management system.

Adjudicative Service Unit:
The Health Law Judges in the Adjudicative Service Unit preside over the adjudicative (hearing) process in all Department of Health cases.
