The Public Health Information Technology Committee (PHIT) provides a
forum for coordination of information technology planning across many separate public health
entities so that communication and data transfer systems are compatible,
reliable, secure and cost-effective. The goal is for public health
professionals to have access to information when and where they need it
by employing appropriate and effective technology, in the background,
to make the work of assuring the public's health easier, more efficient,
and more effective.
